IVF costs

this is actually a pretty interesting consideration for people who want to do IVF. it's very expensive in singapore, but till today i've spent about 1800k won so far for all my tests, including the 11 days of hospitalization. of course, this is with the local insurance that i have as an F-6 visa holder.

this hospital is actually one of the more pricey hospitals btw... because it's supposed to be really good in specializing in women's care and fertility.

the costs of IVF is actually the main reason why people don't want to do it... sure - you may be afraid of the pain that's gonna come with all the injections and stuff but it can't be considered with the pain of a big hole in your pocket. i can only say that i'm really lucky korea medical facilities are so cheap. however, even if you're not a visa holder, you can expect the price to be just twice of my current total, which is still waaaay lesser than singapore's expected price of 10k. btw... i heard that if you were to give birth naturally here - that process itself is free and you'd only have to pay for however many days you are admitted.... just wow! and there are also certain groups of people with a 500bucks bonus if you earn below a certain level.

there are also people who are not sure if they should do IVF or just keep trying at natural birth. i decided on this mainly because i'm about to hit 35 and i heard childbirth gets worse after that. if you still have time... of cos it's way better to do it the natural way - it's 100 times less painful and costly. but if you are really running out of time and you wanna have kids young, this is probably the fastest way to go. it's also good to invest in the process for about a year because the effect is not immediate. i guess i am lucky because i have good quality eggs and a healthy uterus but embryo implantation usually works only 40% of the time and some ladies need a stronger/prolonged dose of hormone injection. while it took me only 2 weeks from the start of my injections to the embryo transfer, it may take a few months or even years for others. i'm only praying for good results now but even if i do fail, i won't need to go through the entire process. 3 of my embryos are fertilized and stored, and all i need to do is to recover before i put the new embryos in again. but of cos, if all 3 fails... then i would have to repeat the whole process... but let's not think about that..........T_T

for now i'll just have to focus on recovery (reducing the bloat...) and be careful not to get into accidents! i still can't eat a lot (perhaps 1/2 a serving is the maximum) or move a lot since standing up causes my legs to swell. i can't sit for long either as my butt gets numb and i can't lay down since i get back pains. i feel like a complete useless patient but i'm sure it will improve with time... right!?

anyway i will keep updating this table with my further consultation costs!
