160430 VI Shoot

so i left work on friday 530pm and took the plane at 9pm to korea for the long weekend~ it's probably the shortest trip i've had (oh wait, arisha's trip was short too). took cathay pacific this time. the seats are actually pretty comfortable, at least they don't make you sit upright 90degrees - there was more slant to it. and my favourite plane food where i get to eat twice due to the transit. hurhur.

the yellow packet drink sucks though.

my plane actually left half an hour later, but thankfully i managed to catch the transit (only a 50mins timeframe) because it was delayed as well. still managed to reach incheon at 730am, the queue was super duper long so i took almost 45mins to check out. played my game while waiting for namchin to reach at 830am. Watched half of Ant-man (fell asleep) and all of Frankenstein (it was pretty interesting!). Started a bit on Snoopy but it was too boring. bleahs.

it turns out that this guy forgot to get my lens. so after we reached yongin at about 10am, went for a shower and out to have breakfast and prayed that o lens would be opened by then. the storekeeper seemed to be out, so we ended up buying another lens which wasn't as bright. sighs. went back to prepare and we only got out nearing 2pm =_=

the trip to the disposed factory took an hour plus, and we only managed to get started around 4pm. the original plan was to get out by 12 and start by 130 at least. we're off track by so much!!!

vi says hello!

me taking a video as soon as i reach the area. hurhur.
our shoot actually only lasted for 1.5hrs (or lesser) because we needed to head back for dinner with namchin's family and relatives. we probably speed drove all the way back and i changed and removed my make up in the car. =_=

apparently one of his relatives mistook the date and he's a super busy person who can hardly rearrange his schedule, so bo bian we need to accommodate.

to be honest, i was quite nervous but not scared. i thought it was quite fun to meet everyone. it felt like i was in some drama production lol. and it's quite awesome because his relatives were all so nice and friendly! the food was awesome too. it would have felt awkward if i took pictures of each dish although i really wanted to. i heard the dinner was customised just for today's event. i think we had like a 7course dinner. full to the max at the end.

we ended off around 9-10pm.. then headed to the office to review pictures. it felt like such a long day that we slept till 2pm the next day. omg more than half the day gone!!!!!!!

Belle WIP

started on a project for disney princesses for belle. there's actually quite a lot of versions of her but here's the original one:

with added jewels and designs on her top

just plain sparkly

and this is actually the one i'm going for:

but i'm at a loss now. after having researched on the many pretty belle cosplays out there, i feel like i probably can't do any better with my current skills. look at all these awesome belles.........!!! i really love how they made the dresses,

my favourite is this, i think she really nailed it!!

i kinda like how firefly path made their own version of it.

my cake-layered dress is a complete flop. and i think i kinda lost the motivation to fix it. on one hand it's because my glitter chiffon is causing such a huge mess. every time i bring it out, it literally sparkles my whole floor. ughh. i tried to do a 2 layer approach and it looks like a messy cake now.

it was so hard to attach the glitter chiffon to the edge so this is how it turned out after trying to roll it

arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh i feel like i may have to redo the whole thing. but never mind at least i have the top done now... at least. i bought a bunch of cloth from taobao to experiment with the mix and matches

and i don't know why but i really wanted to use that color changing cloth but after i cut and pieced them together i went... ok it's orange.

ughh yeh now that i look at this, it is orange color dude. so i redid it.

and adding on the glitter cloth.

doesn't really look particularly fantastic but sighs.
i think i might have to rebuy all my cloth and start again. zzz.

Ruby Moon WIP

so, vic drags me to another plan of hers for Cardcaptor sakura, as ruby moon.
i'm the kind who actually works on a costume if i feel inspired by it, and if we have enough members to make it nice. so i decided to take it on. in any case, it isn't a very complicated costume, but there seems to be some room for imagination too (i think?!). this is how she looks like!

considering i have that white skirt from many other previous cosplays i decided i won't need to remake it. oh, and my materials are koped from csl's textile galore. hurhur.

anyway, started with the cape and tube dress. not very difficult considering my velvet stretches to my body shape so i just needed to cut the bottom part correctly, sew on a zip and ribbon trim the edges. 2nd pic shows how it looks after i stitched the edges down. looks more clean-cut doesn't it!

i considered putting some luscious embroidery... i think it gives it more depth. but hmm i'll think about it later with the butterfly brooch.

the ribbon brooch is just made out of transparent pvc stuck with lace on both sides and decorated with gems. it was too skinny so i just threw on some ribbon backing to make it fatter. also sewed on the ribbon for the feelers around the cape. they are all attached with the enzyme pins.

next is the center tail (whatever you call it..) it's a big pink flap with the red pvc cut and uhu glued over. the sides are trimmed with silver ribbons. the butterfly is cut from interfacing and wrapped with black velvet (it looks ugly behind).

the butterfly was too plain for my liking so i threw on some lace dangle trimmings and mirror gems on the side. i then tore off the red overlay and trimmed it with black ribbon, and re-pasted it on again. the top portion was sewn with ribbon belt to tie onto my waist. i'm still missing the large ruby gem on the butterfly. on the right is the almost completed piece with my pre-used white skirt. ugh, my edges look so messy.

and now the wings. i'm gonna use a very weird pvc method that seemed to work for my digimon. PVC for the base!

then wrapped with black chiffon... the chiffon sort of moves around so i tacked it with my sewing needles, then sewed on the edges with silver ribbon.

that's how 1 wing panel ends up looking like.

and now all 4 of them are done! in between happy all day buffer from dragon blaze and striker.

time to put them together..... which i haven't gotten down to. bleahs. and i'm missing the red panels on the wings. need red glitter cloth.....

till next time!
