since it's winter, we decided to give skiing a go before snow stops falling! so here we are at konjiam again. 00's friend ray was picking us up and meeting early, so we ran out without breakfast and i had to order it at the meeting place. for a random order, it was still yummy. mistakenly got an affogato ice cream instead of coffee though. whoops. there's always some surprises when you choose to order things with unique names.
i managed to go for more than 4 times this time!
we even went for the expert course. not bad! i'm starting to get the hang, and falling less often. but i still look awkward. skiing is still a strenuous and expensive activity so i really don't see myself doing it frequent anyway. while the guys went for further rounds i stayed at the side and built some little icemen.
you can't see the icemen? neither can i.
went for dinner after that with seong jun, ray and his workplace friends, who treated us. i basically have no idea what haejangguk is and his friend mistakenly ordered a share for me... so... uh...
i just drank the soup and didn't really eat any of the stuff inside. did try, but it was just weird. (basically it's all intestines).
i kinda missed the last time we were here for free staying at one of the rooms and just going for spa during summer, and we had convenience food for dinner. it was a lazy day but still enjoyable. i remembered we had like 2-3 rooms to ourselves. perhaps mr kong will get another voucher this summer...
This is all an illusion.
But there is truth within illusions.
And when the illusion fades,
the truth will still resonate within you.

130724 Konjiam Resort in the Summer
so mr k been skiing too often and he was rewarded with a deluxe room at the resort.. and i had the honor to go along to rest and relax hohohoh. so we took about a 2.5hours bus ride over to Konjiam resort and...
there's a neat little waterfall where people were already wading inside when we got there.. of cos it was all kids.
this is actually the building we were gonna stay in, feels like hdb eh...?
lo and behold! our huge room that's probably big enough for more than 5persons. there's 2 rooms, one of which is empty, though there's mattresses in the cupboard.
there's also 2 toilets, one in between the rooms and another in the master bed room.
there's a huge living room... that already comes with a sleeping person
and a full kitchen to boot! it's like a house!!
when it's not winter, a ski resort often turns into a golf course, since the land would be big enough for that to happen.
but since i don't play golf... (and anyway it doesn't seem to be turned into a gold course, either that or there's just no one playing golf) we headed over to the spa pool instead.
can't take much pictures since i'm swimming (or rather, just wading in between pools). they have hot and cold pools, indoor and outdoors and there's also all the massage functions in the pools. not bad, but definitely not worth 30k ++ won...
we stayed in for 3-4hours then came out to get dinner. since there's a kitchen, i suggested we do some cooking! of cos, like instant meals... hahahah.
had spaghetti and udon, and bought half a dozen eggs to throw in, plus some instant soup, rice and kimchi.
instant food is yummy here~ thank goodness for all the convenience stalls around. hohoh. since it wasn't too late, we went out for a walk to digest our dinner. there's some statues and fountains...

this glass thingy houses the indoor pools.

but there's really not much to look at. we came out to digest dinner but ended up eating ice cream... went back to retire for the day once the walk's over.
needed to check out by 12 the next day, and i think it was the first time we checked out on time since we slept before 11pm the day before. i cooked what's left of our instant food - marinated chicken vermicelli and spaghetti, with soup and whatever we have left of our rice and kimchi and eggs.
we lazed around till it was almost 12pm, then checked out... while waiting for the shuttle bus to come, we walked around a bit, then left for yong-in. goodbye Konjiam~~

Day 4 Konjiam Ski
walked around 00 house area in the morning and visited the dogs. man, their barkings are really crazy. within 5m, they start to charge towards you (but blocked by fence) and bark. with almost 10 dogs barking, the whole neighbourhood can be woken quite easily.
but still, because they are so beautiful, i want to touch them.
view of all the dogs! these are the little ones and the bigger ones returned and surfed a bit before 00 appeared around 10+ to take me to the office.
prepared our ski stuff~~! but the ski bag's zip went bonkers and couldn't zip, so we had to safety pin and masking tape it. hahahah so funny. we then set off to ski! was a 20+ mins ride to konjiam ski resort via taxi, and an hour ride by bus.
whee~~~ my first time at a ski resort, though i vaguely remember i've been to something similar to this before when i first came to korea with a tour group... but anyhow, first time on a snowboard!
had a bit of food before that. hotdogs are nice!
since it was gonna be cold, i was pretty much aptly prepared, so i didn't feel too cold in the end. HENG. we traveled by cable up hill, and 00 taught me how to move around on the board. actually we were snowboarding and not skiing. it was really super hard. T_T first, the boots were such that your ankle can't twist, and once you strap yourself to the board, there's a certain way to bend and you have to keep your legs apart all the time. and with all the gears, it was just too tiring to move around. and i kept falling, and couldn't get up without help.
you really need a lot of leg and hand power for this sport. i felt a bit sorry because 00 had to teach me all the time and couldn't enjoy snowboarding himself. wahhh. gave up and took pictures in the middle. HAHA. i'm quite positive i was sweating inside, so it was a relief to take off my beanie and goggles.
after like an hour and a half i finally managed to finish the hill. we stopped for a snack break at 9-11, then at angelius. then met some of his friends. they helped us take a picture here. hehehhehe. so professionally taken!
actually i thought we were done with the ski, but it seems we had to go another round!!! *gasps* it's ok, i can do this! and we did it faster this time, in about an hour. phew. still, my kneeeeees. oh gawwwwd.
oh and it was snowing slightly at the time we were about to leave. it was beautiful. it was like specks of lightly shaved ice falling gently. and i'm watching this with you.
we took the bus back to yong-in thereafter. boohoo i lost my inner gloves (that's right, my gloves were double layered). the bus stopped like in the middle of nowhere and my bladder was seriously bursting. thankfully there's a building nearby to relief myself. and there's an interesting mirror in all the cubicles, where it says at the top 'the person you are looking at now is the coolest person in the world'. hmm what an ego booster while you're doing your business.
finally managed to get on a cab and had dinner with some visiting members, nakyu and lunabelle. these young people make me feel so old. T_T they are so so cute though. and mr d-man and kyungmin keeps teasing them, making them clean up their food after we've all eaten. guess it's the senior-junior relationship!! it was a fun night! (",)
