161108 Bye Thailand!

and it was soon the last day of our family trip... woke up to have breakfast but it was raining again. the hotel's umbrellas were all rent out, so we quickly went to the chicken rice place just opposite of our hotel to eat.

like i say, all chicken rice tastes the same but for 30baht, it's pretty decent.

there was some roadside stalls so we took away food from those and brought them to the hotel to eat.

after that we left for the airport. we waited like 30mins to find a cab that could bring us to the nearest mrt, which only took <5mins -="" 100baht="" 30baht........="" a="" and="" at="" cab......="" call="" cost="" day............="" div="" first="" flag="" for="" grab="" here="" just="" learnt="" least="" like="" much="" never="" on="" one="" or="" so="" t_t="" take="" the="" thing="" tuktuk.="" tuktuk="" we="">

161107 Best Pad Thai

we went back to eat at the crab wanton mee place and it rained super heavily all of a sudden. when it was our turn and we finished eating, the rain didn't stop and in fact got more heavy. we stood around the entrance trying to cross over to the next building but the rain kept us from crossing. in the end, one of the guys at the stall opened his huge tent umbrella and sheltered us over... talk about good service! awesome gesture of kindness...

and then we stopped at the shibuya building, which turns out to sell lots of textiles.

we shopped for a while till the rain stopped, then sent mom to a massage, and shopped more at the inner alleys till evening time. we were recommended by the hotel staff to take a boat to where we wanted to go since the traffic will be smoother...

lol... we felt like some runaway illegal immigrants when we squeezed onto that crowded boat. at least it was only like 20baht per person, very cheap.

and we reached our pad thai place.

there was already a queue but we got in pretty fast by choosing the aircon place (extra 10baht per person)

that bottled orange juice is super pulpy and tastes nice! the iced coconut is so-so.

ordered 3 padthais. actually it doesn't matter what flavour you order all of them seems to taste the same in the end. we just tried the 2 with omelette and one without.

by the way... i noticed a lot of thai kitchens are located at the front of the store, and this was no different. it's as if they are displaying the chef's skill before the guests becomes convinced to go in. here, the chef was displaying his omelet wrap skill... one omelet every 12 seconds... woahhh!

161106 Asiatique Calypso

since we walked too much yesterday, we decided to take it easy today by going cafe hopping on trung lo.
had our brunch here and it was an expensive one, since the price was almost the same as singapore's cafe (about 15+ per dish).

we ordered pancakes and the roe pasta, as well as a spanish cocktail. all were very nice! the pasta is a recommended dish.

it seems that the neighbourhood is full of rich people and japanese cafe/restaurants.

but there wasn't that much to see, so we left for the next station. bought the famous mango sticky rice along the way.

we then moved to the next stop's shopping mall

and settled on yet another cafe there, where we enjoyed the outer view

ordered tapas (quesadillas) and 2 drinks - salted caramel and avocado honey

that salted caramel is the best salted caramel drink i've ever had. the blend was just right and those oreo frostings around the cup... wanna drink it again!

we then poured our secret mango out to eat... yummm~

walked arouind the mall a little. such a cute cafe...

when it was about 5pm we took a cab down to asiatique.

settled on Checkmate for dinner.

it sells thai fusion food. ordered 3 mains and a milk tea.

the view at night is pretty nice there! we shopped around till our show started around 815pm.

funny little robots and roll car for adults to ride in...

and it's time for the show! it costs about $50+ per person and there's only 2 shows per day. each seat comes with a free drink. the beer is pretty nice.

and let the show begin!

they have a beyonce...

and a lady gaga singing sound of music. it's all pre-recorded so she was only doing the actions. not very interesting. would have been more impressive if they actually sang...

some clown impression

a strike happening out of nowhere.. that lightbulb thing over their heads was kinda funny.

a japanese guest!! SO SUPER CUTE. lol. i think s/he is the highlight of the day with all those funny expressions.

marilyn monroe impression

an arirang korean sad story

and i think the guys lost it...

some other dances...

and that s/he person who did the japanese came out again!

that's the end~

outside you can take pictures with all the cast and beyonce by giving them tips.

i even see some guys squeezing their butts... so inappropriate...
