saw this at mini toons and went to make one myself. :D it's a good investment!

shiroko-chan is its official name! i have desiced that it will be a boy. too bad i used blue pen to draw the templates so there seems to be some blue stuff all over. yikes. i brought it back to malaysia with me for the new year haha.

then the night after i went to bai nian at denzyl's, i saw this really nice foodie diy at comics and decided i would post my finished work here.

here's the finished bread set. i didn't do the chocolate bread since it's almost the same as the butter one.

and i recently got another macdonald's set! just finished it... the drink look the weirdest. i think the template they gave was kinda wrong.

ta-da!

by the way if you wanna do this, this website might help on how to do those blanket stitches.

it's a pain to understand every single person.
but i guess that's where sincerity stems from.
and i guess, not everyone is as what they seem.
why do we have to be the ones who continuously read between the lines? do we not deserve equal treatment in return?
maybe it's because we're older. more mature. knowing how to think better.
that's why.
and thus such stress is proportionate to age and wisdom i guess.
here is the skirt that i've repaired. painstakingly went to sew the edges for the jagged part... then attached to the main skirt as an underlining.

Photobucket

whee. i think i'm coining a lot of terms myself. undercoat? underlining? lining? whatever, you know what i mean. or rather, i know what i mean haha.
here you can see a lot of the extras from the white cloth, which will be sewed in by another cover-up layer (another self-coined term). had to use the pins to mark the white cloth in place:

Photobucket

lousy zip i found from my stash. had to attach extra cloth to it cos it was missing the metal stopper zips usually have at the top and bottom (to prevent 'over-zipping').

Photobucket

here you can see that the white lining is not split up at the zip part.

Photobucket

the zip is actually at the front of the skirt. i figured that's where it'll be covered better since the top i made has a flap that would cover it better rather than when it's on the sides or back. a better choice would have been a hidden zip though. but my principle is to save as much and still create something presentable :p

Photobucket

and the skirt from the back. nothing special. just for the sake of completeness i should show the 360degrees view eh.

Photobucket

and i redid my choker too!
used a smaller enzyme (it looks enzymic to me...) button. best thing is last time you could see the stitches from the outside but now i've used hidden stitches so you can't see them now :D

Photobucket

the arrowed ends. last time it was just a cut-out, this time i sewed it inside and turned it around to hide the stitches, then sewed the semi-circles onto the long strips. some parts still protrude and doesn't look too good though. i also used leftover satin for the white part instead of ribbons like before so i can overlap the orange parts.

Photobucket

and my completed choker (without the jade pearl in the middle)

YAAAAAAAYYY~

i redid the whole top! yay i feel so happy. i bought the template and could do the top that had the boob shape. whee~ this is more wearable than the other one.

the buttons were a mess. it was originally at the side but i undid the whole thing and shifted them to the back, while adding a zipper. much more neater.

Photobucket

Photobucket

basically just did the edges and ripped the bottom part from the old top.

Photobucket

and the last one - the petals! i realised that ironing is also part and parcel of sewing. i went to iron the petals so the edges are inside and i can sew them better on. it's so much neater than the last one now.

yay! i have officially finished my gwendolyn costume!
while the gloves look like they might be easy to make, they are certainly not so... it has to be fitting and can be pulled all the way to the upper arm. that means it has to be wide at the top and thin at the bottom, but still big enough for my wrist to go through.
the last part added on is the extra layer to give the 'layered' look so i used alternated and cross stitches to sew them on so the edges won't flap up.

Photobucket

Photobucket

with the gloves completed, i went on to repair my corset and restitch the white ribbon position

Photobucket

also re-stitched all the back buttons and line a black ribbon so the stitches won't be as obvious.

Photobucket
yay! the last part is the feathers.

finally an update!
ever since i got my job doing relief teaching at yishun sec... i've been able to come home early everyday (usually released around 3pm). for the past week, i've been trying to mend my gwendolyn costume since i picked up some more tailoring skills... and bought a template for making corsets!
by the way my pictures will all be taken by nokia 6180 (it think) since i lost my samsung one. :(
so here's how the corset look like so far. may be removing the white ribbons and resewing them again since it's a tad too far from the criss crosses. the criss crosses are soooo hard to sew on as i had to cut and continue sewing so it doesn't sew my criss crosses with the white patch together.

Photobucket

and the back. tried to hide the zip so had to use some buttons to cover it. i'm so happy with this because it has a boob shape and it really works like a corset. i never knew how to make these kind of '3D' clothes / fitting kind so this is my firsssst. made tons of ammendments in the process. had to unstitch and restitch the whole thing a couple of times due to wrong side of lining, wrong size, wrong method of stitching... was really frustrating.

Photobucket

and the skirt! i noticed that it should have the frilly ends for the blue layer and i redid the white layer using my leftover satin... then attached them together. also redid this a couple of times cos i used gather stitches for the blue layer... which scrunched everything up so i had to unstitch, cut some cloths, do the linings and stitch the frills separately.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

added the buttons to hold the cover in place. i realised that the blue-white layer can be worn by itself as a normal skirt haha just that satin seems too elaborate for normal occasions...

Photobucket

and finally the black layer. trimmed the kinky nettings, and neaten the top layer. black 'velvet' is always a trouble to stitch, cos it leaves a lot of furs churning in my machine, it's thick (kink layer + black scrunched layer + final 'neaten up' layer). also redid my buckles position since i added the 'neaten up' layer. and i sewed the hems for the skirt's edges as well (i learnt the importance of hemming).

Can-or-Naut

American Spaceman is called Astronaut
Russian Spaceman is called Cosmonaut
Chinese Spaceman is called Taikonaut
Malaysian Spaceman??? - Can-or-naut

Datuk Najib was thinking about sending somebody
into space. Three potential can-or-nauts were
called for an interview - one Indian, one Malay
and one Chinese.

Najib interviews the Indian first: "So,
Muthu, this is a dangerous mission.
How much do you think you should be paid?"
Muthu replied: "Ten million ringgit."
"Why so much?" asks Najib.
"Very dangerous mission, Datuk. Maybe no come
back!" replied Muthu.
"That's understandable," says Najib. "Thank you..

Please ask the Malay guy to come here,"
So the Malay walks up, and is asked the same question.
"Alamak!...20 million, Datuk," replied the Malay candidate.
"Twenty million? That's twice as much! Even the aneh before you
asked for only ten million."
"You see, Datuk," explains Mat, "I have 4
wives and 15 children ... With 20 of us, it is a big
family to support when I am gone...!"
"I see," says D.Najib. "Okay, can you ask that Chinese guy to come then?"

The Chinese guy comes in and Najib asks, "Ah Chong,
given this is a very risky mission, how much do you want?"
Ah Chong thinks for a while, and says, "30 million."
Najib appears shocked. "What?!? 30 million!
Why so much?"
Ah Chong beckons Najib to come closer.
He quietly whispers into his ear,
"Datuk, you take 10 million, i take 10 million,
and then use the extra ten million, send that aneh to space lah!"

And...the Muthu was finally sent out to space.....

or so i almost wanted to send. f*** society.
To: SBM group members
Subject: last lap.

Hi guys.
Ok, i seriously don’t know what you guys are up to with the mild response and enthusiasm in the project, but I am DEAD tired from repairing all the articles you guys have. I really appreciate you all handing in the stuff, but I’m sorely disappointed at the substandard quality. It just shows that you don’t give a damn about this project. I know you get a pass/fail for this course, so you can’t really be bothered, and you won’t even do anything no matter how many emails I sent, even when I bothered to give comments – which probably went ignored again.
Whatever it is, just to let you know, me and Helen’s working our asses off for this shit. We got a b- for the last one (it’s pass for you and fail for us, ok?). I know, awwww, screw us for working so hard and getting this kind of shitty grade. Please don’t reply with apologetic sentences that don’t mean anything at all. The least you guys can do now is to make our presentation a successful one. And we are going to have a meeting next week. Stop going on your assholic holidays and start paying a little more attention to work. 2 hours of work won’t kill you, will it? Silly me for even believing that you’ll put in a teeniest amount of effort for this. And I can probably bet on a 30% attendance for our one and only meeting.
And yeah, another mail from Christy with her little whinings again. Go ahead and delete this mail. Why did I even bother typing this at all?

A Deadly Mix

look at the lovely hilt.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

oh by the way i'm inspired by the hotglue drawing and transparency thingy for the neck you said. so i'm working on it. used my transparency to cut these out, the zigzag straps of the helm at the back (lacks coloring)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

and the collar (painted blue).

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

on top of the collar you can see my hotglue drawings practice. of cos it still looks chui so i shall work more on it. the best thing about hotglue drawing is it's so easy to peel off!

and i added a zip on the back of my armour base. i think i haven't showed you guys my armour base! well i'll take a picture the next time for the front. i'm gonna spray paint it blue, maybe.

arghh. and my mom went to throw away my collar piece when i was drying it cos she thought it was trash. sheesh, and i went to all the trouble of cutting and perfecting it and measuring it. had to make another one again, which just looks chui. (;_;)
haiz oh well, looking at the sword still makes me smile. (",) it's mine it's mine!!

pasta cafe at taka!

they have this new set where yo uget to eat their pastas and baked stuff in small quantity at $22.90 (about $26-$27 with gst and service charge). it's seriously enough for 2 person, unlike what the person said. unless you're a big eater and you swap the starter salad as soup. even so, their soup is pretty big, it's served in a plate. ok, next up! (ok my pictures suck. but it's a phone camera, mind you. it's all orangey, but imagine the dish without the orange tinge ok?)

pasta salad for starters. pretty filling in itself. loaded with ham, fresh lettuce leaves, pineapples, and this brown japanese salad sauce which i don't know what it is called. nice!

then the main course - creamy seafood pasta. nice! with a mussel too. except my sister don't like mussels, so i get to eat it. hee hee. i used the sauce here for my baked pasta by the way. oh well.

then the next main course - baked slipper lobster pasta. aside from the nice cheesy topping and the lobster meat, the pasta itself is just plain. in fact you might even get sick of eating just the pasta only even though its quantity is pretty little.

anyway i made a little progress with my gwendolyn top... used a random black spaghetti and scrap black cloth (for the criss cross). probably when i attach that white tube to it then i will snip away the straps. ooh but it looks ready to be layered over any other tops now! yay!

by the way i ate this cake for my birthday. it's from swiss bake. lots of brownie chunks on the top, followed by a cheesecake layer and chocolate lined at the bottow. mmm-hmm~ it's pretty small, but it's still filling!
too bad there was still a cold war with my little brother. kinda made
the event a tad gloomy, but oh well! nothing's perfect.

Thursday, October 04, 2007

oh wow... this cosplayer is really zai.

that is the real hair used... they say angmoh's hair are usually much coarser, therefore easier to style. i guess now it's really put into good use.
and this person as link again.

i know, what a handsome dude!!
but of cos, the really zai part...
'he' is really a 'she'... of cos, you didn't know that did you?
well i guess some of us are just born with it.
*envious*

GOSHHHHH i want the crisis core game!!!
and the psp looks so cool!
somebody's selling the
whole set at $688.
i'd rather buy a ps3 with that money. bleahs.
and then this guy is selling the game, buster sword strap and the limited edition earphones at $250!! RIP OFF. but i still so want. the game costs around $70-$85 locally. i wonder if it's in japanese.
and bogus sellers are putting up the sets all over auctions to trap those who can't think better than to buy from an unrated seller. raiding the house while it's on fire, eh?
gosh!! there's an advent children limited edition box going for a freaking $530. and ti includes soOOOO many things!

i guess it's pretty worth it. but still i'd give the money for ps3.
boy and there's a soundtrack here too, imported from japan at $45.

i saw the limited edition dvd going at $69.90 at music junction too... i hope it doesn't sell out soon, i only saw 1!
haiz!!! why is square-enix coming up with so many merchandise!!!!
is this how the game industry survives??
