the making of AoE mephistopheles

vincent said that the show was as good as FMA so i had to watch it... and it was awesome! so i went to like another xerxes/undertaker-like character called mephisto pheles this time. bwahhhh.





he has this really cute bat-like umbrella and it seems he likes pink a lot.
and he appeared to be the tallest character =.=



just look at how well he goes together with xerxes. hur hur.





so i've more or less completed his stuff. was actually supposed to do it with laogong at AFA, but i was busy chionging for my pitch and didn't have time to complete it. T_T next event please!

started with the modification of my audrey burne top and joining the tail to it.



painted the buttons on it



and attached thick thread for the swirly collar and cuffs



then mended the bottom so it has the v-shape



now it looks like this



next i made the vest with lining



i quite like how it turned out... maybe i'll wear it out. heh.



and the back



easy.

the hat was made using foam. had a previous template from shirogane, so just needed to cut and made sure it fit my head. it's ll kangaroo glued-on, and my handicraft was so bad some parts looked pretty yellowish. oh well.



swirly thing was done with 2 strips stuffed with cotton and twisted together, then glued on.



normal gloves template, just draw the lines around my hand, cut and sew. routine. (but it still looks sucky)



cape is done with 2 colors and in 2 layers cos my white cloth was too little, so i had to cheat... which part did i cheat on, you ask? WELLL... guess!





then added in the ribbon lining. i like this ribbon!



bought pink pants but couldn't bear to paint over it so i bought stockings and drew over it instead. too lazy to draw the whole part so here's what i have only that's enough (since he has shorts and boots to cover the rest anyway)



made the cane using some curtain hanger that is extendable and painted it gold. suppose to build the tip and the ice cream part with clay but the 2 packs of clay i bought was all solidified! there goes my $4 in the bin. ended up using the epoxy i had. well it was much stronger anyway...



and the base of the ice cream is some stuffed cloth. HAHA



that needed LOTS of painting and repainting



to eventually look like this. the green's still a bit dirty though



next is the bat-umbrella. not sure how to convert from bat to umbrella and vice versa, so i just settled for only bat. made the sweets pattern out of felt.



then bought pink cloth to make the bat base. wings had metal wirings to support.



then i stuffed the bat through the rod



wings will be added on separately for easier traveling purposes. so it kinda look like this when i set it up



cute eh? it's lying on top of my CD rack in the living room now. i had to make it face inwards so it wouldn't scare anyone passing by.

also worked a bit on the hp accessory but too lazy to continue for now...

this is the fire ball and the earth ball



he hangs so many weird balls... jeez. this is colorful ball.

worked on gwen's costume sometime back... yes going to do her armour version! *_* this is one of my all-time favourite game and i wanna cos her before i 'graduate'...! some references first.

i suppose i only do these things when i'm bored. would have been working on my costumes if the textiles were here, but i'm actually blogging about 2011.

hmmm. 2011 was a lot of stress, a lot of sleepless nights, a lot of disappointment.
i worked really hard for many things, but i've yet to reap what i sowed.

and then i watched a really awesome drama, where i fell in love with jung il woo *_* and now i'm watching another 3 dramas of his. i feel really bad for lee jun ki now, because jung il woo is such a spin-off of jun ki. korean army, why don't you release jun ki nowwwwwwwwww and let him star in more dramas so i can stop looking at his lookalike...!!!

and this was the part that got me so head over heels for jung il woo. this must be the best best kiss i've ever seen...!!! *press replay x100 times*



watching it somehow lifts my mood a little.

did a cosplay for taiwan trip...



simple simple. my laogong did hongkong.



super cheap cosplay, and would have been cheaper if i didn't get the wig, which i didn't use in the end!!!!

i bought a cheongsam that was just around my office for $6.90 and modified it to a top.



then added the lace on the sleeves area



made the larger sleeves using materials i already have...



and here it is!



then i plucked some flowers from my mom's vase and colored it red (was purple initially)...



made some tassles out of the golden thread i have



and put them together!



wala! the skirt is from athena's. heh. photoshoot carried out in taiwan itself. epic!

didn't do much for this costume! just added lots of decor. was pretty much a costume i taobaoed. yes, this is my first bought costume! figured it saved more time and money to buy it straight than to search around for the textiles and make it.

and then there's this really awesome group who cosplayed them before that was pretty inspiring to us. so we kinda followed their style



added the tassles (gold and red)



added the gold lace trims



styled the wig!



basically shuffed a chopstick+backcomb to make it stand then spam the hairspray. tied it together so it would come together as a clump. here's from the side



oh, i drew on those flowers too.

decided to repair a bit of synchronicity with the new acrylic cutter from zerar.







and also cut a new mask that better fits the face... if not it will look so flat! and spammed more jewels...
