Karma (League of Legends) WIP

ahhh talking about karma cos i'm missing my embroidery machine in korea. T_T

well anyway 00 kept insisting that i looked like karma and after much convincing and research, i did find a costume that i like of her. this was considered the reworked version.

this is the older version.

so when i did the costume i cosrt of tried to combine the 2. i actually used mostly double-sided tape for this costume, because it's just so much neater, faster and nicer than sewing/glueing. hoho. i used the white clothy base for lmost everything. this is corset base for her. the criss cross on the boob part wasn't so nice, so eventually i added on the flaps separately, as 00 advised. i swear he was totally judging my works. T_T and he just kept shaking his head at the double-sided tapes. pffffft.

you can see that i had linings on all the back. well i have plenty of leftover cloth and it looks much nicer (and more comfortable to be worn) right?

there's a few different layers for just the top, but eventually i stuck all of them together using either glue or sewing so it will be easier to wear (but in a way, harder to keep).

this is the base for her front flap. by the way i think the cloth i selected this time is pretty nice. hur. but i had to insist strongly on using PVC cos 00 felt that tibetans (karma is from tibet) would use silk to do their costume more than pvc. i didn't like silk and satin so while i had some satin, i felt that pvc would give more depth cos of the patterns there are. i think my combination turns out pretty ok though!

together with the stomach panel. 00 kept insisting my criss cross panels had too much folds and bubbles and didn't look smooth enough, but he took 2 weeks and didn't pass me his ideal version, so i just did it my way in the end. the folds are not that obvious. i hope. hur. but he did offer a good way on how i can do the criss cross, by using one whole strip then cutting it out into panels, instead of cutting the panels to lay them. at least you'll have a more uniform size and its faster when sewing / doing the golden edge linings. this picture shows the final one while the picture on top shows the one that he criticised. hoho.

and the little balls. i wanted to use a more velvet cloth for the pink patterns and wee spent so much time looking for the correct color and texture at dongdaemon. i guess in the end this turns out ok, although i would have still liked to use pink velvet. brrrrr.

then her skirt. there's the back patterns which is pvc and the inner patterns which are self-painted

it was too yellowish so i added some silver to the paint.

the base of the neck piece

with all the pvc layers

the boots and the handguard is pretty much done in the same way. i used the same white base, sewed on the golden linings on one long strip, then cut it in pieces to do the criss cross layesr. the 2nd thinner lining was added on later. then i places satin as the inner lining so it'll be more comfortable to wear (than just the white base).

we actually argued a lot over what should be the color of the boots as 00 insisted it was black and it looks purplish cos of the lighting. but i followed the picture and i think dark purple makes more sense and is nicer! since i'm the crafter, i win. hoho.

i have zips there but it's probably not needed.

i did the shoe base separately then sewed it together before pasting on the shoe itself.

other small accessories she has such as the tail at the back. i mixed 2 colors together and trimmed the edge for a layered effect.

the 2 rings at her ankle. done by wrapping pvc around a styrofoam ring.

her head accessory, using the cloth white base, then wrapping pvc around. we couldn't find the correct gem color so we scrapped off the silver base on a white gem, and pasted the aqua pvc behind so we get the color we want.

made the base out of foam, then stuck with pvc for the earrings.

i'm missing her pyramid dangles for the hair extension, which ark carved for me but is lost!!

here's how everything looks like when put together. and yes, everything here is 1 piece - they are all stuck together. hahhahah. even the hand armour, cos the tip of the shoulder flap is joined to the wrist of the handguard.

and when i put it on the mannequin. oh right, it's the first time i have a mannequin living with me for about 1-2months. scary at night. the picture on the right is more complete with all the gold swirl patterns, the right shoe also finished and the rings on her left boot.

and lastly her wig cutting. i love her hair, because of the lopsided cascading style. the extensions are a mix of red and pink, and the front extensions were supposed to be attached to the pyramid so i didn't trim them yet.

her shoulder suspended wings were done by ark and 00 but it wasn't completed in time so that's why we couldn't go to the busan comic world. sighs. guess i'll have to make them here myself. and in the end, i didn't bring the costume back cos my luggage was crazy. only brought the wig back for some reasons. lol.

i'm missing a hell lot of pictures!!! when i transferred my pictures some of them got corrupted in the sd card. argh.

Milla Maxwell WIP

so i started working on my new costume since i could find all the materials i need and i had plenty of time at home. haha. so here's the character, Milla Maxwell from Tales of Xillia.

it was also just nice because i lost some weight and this character is baring a lot of stomach and skin, so i thought i'll fit in well. hoho. so anyway here's my WIP photos.

here's all the materials i got out of my stash. this is for the top and skirt and those criss cross belts she has, the second pic for the handguards and the last for the boots. (i used another shoe as base eventually, one that was about to be thrown off heh)

unfortunately my machine died on me and i had to get my parents to send me the spare one from malaysia. so i could only start to sew on day 2.

starting with the handguards... sewed on all the linings first

the red ribbons were all glued on so the criss cross patterns can stay. attached on the elbow guard that's made from foam.

i actually pasted on the elbow guard wrongly and had to take it out and stick it on again. urgh. so the correct one is on the right.

the wrist guard is pretty easy. did it on the first day.

the boots were pretty bothersome. the base was alright, it's only sticking it on the shoes that had a few problems.

but i managed it anyway. the front flap kept dropping so that has to be glued on the thigh flaps too. again, the criss crosses are all stuck on a separate panel, then sewed on the shoes.

there's also all the funny straps she has on her thighs. i just cut them out from the pvc and stuck rectangular patterns on them.

milla has probably the easiest top/skirt to work on. the skirt is simple enough... just needed to do the criss crosses on the side.

then sew on all the troublesome purple linings.

and hand-painted. i think i did the patterns too small though. but oh well...

not much to be said about the top. i took an unwanted spaghetti strap i had and cut it into half for the base, then stuck all the straps on it. pretty easy. just needed to keep trying it on to make sure i got the positions right.

and the neck collar decorations are all stuck on. easy.

last to be done was the sword. honestly i didn't do such a good job since everything was cut out of foam.

then painted the handle gold, for about 3-4 layers.

tried to do some 'rusting' patches on it but failed. so i just sprayed gold paint on it which made it a bit more shiny. last touch was the ribbons. the sword is not suitable for performances cos there's no backbone supporting it and the blade might just come off. but it's good enough for photo purposes. it's also terribly light!

last was her green hair extension. didn't do a very good job. couldn't find my clear pvc so i stuck it on some spare shiny pvc i had leftover from the sword. lol. not a good choice but i was too lazy to buy. this was to be pinned on the wig anyway. i mixed in 2 different shades of green. so it wouldn't look so 2D.

and that's milla's costume in 4 days. not so bad right? haha. and no shopping list for this since i had everything. keke.

130727-31 MT Farewell

so in the weekends, kyungmin organised a farewell meal and stuff for me. but unfortunately i ate the super powerful medicine for constipation on friday and was stuck in the toilet for more than 3-4hours, and ended up feeling really terrible for the whole day on saturday. not to mention i kept running to the toilets every 10 mins or so. so the team went to the waterfalls without me. T_T at least 00 stayed behind with me, although he was amused by my runs x_x hey, who caused it!?!

i was finally able to get out in the evening, where the team set up an indoor bbq in the office. whoa. but i couldn't eat anything because i was afraid it'll run out, since the medicine was still in effect.

poor skasha was cooking for everybody. sucks being the youngest member!

bukki marinated beef. and i couldn't resist taking a few. i was so hungry and my stomach was totally empty (i think) since i didn't eat anything at all since the morning and things were just coming out constantly...

i actually managed to make my chocolate cheesecake for everyone as desserts. it was pretty easy and didn't even require any baking. thank goodness they liked it although it looked terrible. it was finished off before i managed to take any pictures.

we actually then played boardgames till 3-4am, before we went to sleep. we were playing this wolves and villagers thingy called Lupus in Tabulus where you had to have group conversations to figure out who the wolves are, and being the only foreigner around, i couldn't converse much and quickly got killed. x_x but because the girls generally kept quiet most of them got killed off too. ahhaha. 00 was really good at the game!! and kyungmin's acting is top notch although no matter how convincing he was whether he told the truth or not we still killed him off. lolol. lopez also dropped by and he became our mediator.

the next morning was a ramen breakfast... or lunch since we woke up near noon. we had the same set up again and ark was cooking ramens for all of us. i think we finished off almost 15 packets of instant noodles!!

we all ate from paper cups. it was really interesting!!

i was generally still afraid of eating but my appetite was slowly returning so i had 2-3 cups of ramen too. i like how they throw the pieces of cheese in. ramen with cheese rocks! especially if it's spicy ramen!! but i still can't believe they ate all the bulgogi meat, sausages, crabsticks etc raw. i still stand by the idea that you need to cook them!!!

we continued our boardgames again until it was 6-7+ then i went to prepare my shoot. since ta-sem was returning from china today it was the only day i could do my saber shoot before i leave for singapore. we actually only managed to reach the studio around 930, and could only start shooting at 10+ when we booked it at 9... hahah. so typical for us to be late! still, we managed to finish around 1130pm, then went off for a night of food food and food. i was gonna leave the next day so they decided i shouldn't sleep. omg korean culture. myeongseon drove ta-sem home first since he had only touched down and had to shoot for me so he was pretty tired.

stopped by at gangnam where we visited a very pretty beer house and had a hotpot set with sake.

our hotpot!

the sake bottle looks pretty

the guys weren't full yet and they insisted i try the sundae next door while we waited for myeongseon to come over.

i'm not a big fan of intestines but at least these looked more noodle-ish and they assured that it wasn't very intestine-like. it wasn't so bad!

after myeongseon came over and we finished up eating, we went over to a nearby cafe, Nescafe, and i treated them to coffee and desserts while chatting. i didn't realise my medicine was still in effect and ended up running to the toilet twice.

it was around 3+am when we left and waky was already falling asleep, so we went over to a nearby multi-function room for about 2 hours to entertain ourselves while waiting for the first bus to come at 530am. (it's actually not that cheap, might have been better at a hostel?!)

there's actually a buffet bar included~! not bad! but i only ate a little toast koped from waky and drank tea.

the room is small and cozy. but there's a monster inside. (lol pictures with waky always look hilarious)

unfortunately 00 was feeling sickly and his leg hurt, which he thought must have been because of the sake. my stomach was also pretty queasy. we watched django, a remade movie with  bit of retro touch. it was pretty interesting but it's like 2.5 or 3hours so we didn't manage to finish it before we leave. 00 was feeling hot and cold continuously and we finally decided to flag a cab back since the first bus could only come around 630am. it was 40k won though... woah! still, i think 00 looked like he was gonna collapse any moment. :(

we got home at 7+am, took a shower and went to sleep, but 00 was suddenly very feverish and sweated buckets so i went to get medicine from his mom. it didn't seem like a normal fever to me so i eventually decided to bring him to a hospital with ta-sem's help, much to his refusal. took an injection there and it seemed that he was getting better. butt injection actually hurts like hell but he said he didn't even felt anything. shows how much pain he was in... :( i didn't manage to fly because i didn't want to leave him like that so i postponed my flight to the 31st instead.

we ate abalone porridge cooked by his house butler, and he almost slept for the whole day while i kept watch. actually it didn't matter how i spent my last few days, as long as it was next to him, although i was very much pained that he was suffering. at night we managed to finish watching the rest of django before we went to sleep, but it seemed that his fever got terrible again and we moved up to his room as he thinks that it might be the bed's problem. the weather was terrible that day with sudden bouts of rain.

the next day his family ordered domino's pizza so we had it for brunch. i don't know how a sick person can actually eat pizza, drink pepsi and still have fruit-bingsu for desserts, but after he ate he fell asleep again while i read mangas and entertained myself. he actually got better later in the day, and we even managed to head out for dinner with the team, since they heard that i had another 2 days here.

located a jjin-dalk place in yongin and it was delicious! kyungmin and caruto came late but we still had fun in the office later anyway! at least i managed to eat with song-sem and jaebong since they were all in china during my supposedly last few days.

we were on a new game that revolves around being the king and the beggar called the Great Dalmuti, and it was really very interesting! i started from the middle class, then went on to royalty class for many rounds before the great revolution happens (when you get 2 jester card), and eventually became a beggar. the fun thing was you get to order those in the lower classes to do things you want as the royalty. lol.

didn't really sleep that much since it was the last night, so we chatted about a lot of things till daybreak. it was good to have a heart-to-heart once in a while, we don't seem to be able to do that often. sighs.

In the morning we ate the remaining pizza (by the way domino's new pizza with strudel at the crust is really nice!) and cold soba, then slowly headed off to the airport.

when we reached the airport there was somehow a super long queue (i've never seen a queue quite that long) at check in, and thank goodness i was able to ask the service attendant and went over another check in counter instead. we had a bit of time for a fast dessert before i went in...

to say goodbye to my dearest...

it was a great pity that the screens are all opaque, so once you go in, you can't see the people outside... T_T

i reached my place just 2-3mins before it took off, and my name was actually announced. running with my huge backpack was crazy.

the airplane food was pretty nice, we were served 2 snacks, before and after dinner.

cheesecake ice cream for dessert!

and we were woken up just an hour before landing for snacks...

and i finally touched down in singapore at 12am, 1st aug, with my parents waiting for me at the airport.
