i've decided to let go!!!
so i threw this weapon away on the day of our shoot.
blasted mosquitoes, i think i have about 10+ bites on my legs now even though i was wearing a full body shoot. zzz.

farewell, chui weapon...

shio's weapon is a mess.

i tried the pvc method with it

Photobucket

and even painted 2 coats of acrylic

Photobucket

but i decided that it's not nice at all...

so i went back to the previous weapon and covered it with tissues for the 'feel and texture'

Photobucket

but it just looks horrible up close.

so i tore the whole thing away back to the basic structure, and wrapped it with 5 rolls of beige cloth tape i found around my house

Photobucket

then i painted 2 coats of white acrylic over and shaded some inner areas

Photobucket

finished it off with a lacquer coating. looks decent now, but still ridiculous up close.

whatever

Photobucket

i'm sick of the weapon. it's so sticky now. bleah. and the paint peels when it sticks to something. final touch... baby powder...!?!

i think i spent about an hour styling this wig... and it still doesn't look accurate enough. will probably continue to cut the frame. and it seems like this time, gatsby super strong spray doesn't work, and wax don't work either. so i used... BONDO japan glue that i got from daiso! hoho! and it's super hard now! but i think it's an irreversible application...

Photobucket

i might have gotten an unsuitable wig base to begin with though - it was much too layered and i needed to press all the standing parts down with pins. hopefully after a few days it won't be standing already...

then i worked on sticking all the blue foam parts to my weapon. seriously i have no idea what to do next. this is one example of poor planning - just do and do and forget about the basic purpose of weight and 'how to hold'. darn.

i think i will need a BONDO coating or something...

progress for shio during the weekend.

i know there's like some red stripes on her right shoulder but i didn't know the pattern so i went to google a bit and found this:

decided that this should be the pattern and went ahead to draw it on.

1) draft drawing first. i always draw half of it so i can reflect it later. but this time it's because i'm too lazy to cut both sides and my paper is just too small zzz

Photobucket

2) cut it out

Photobucket

3) trace onto the cloth

Photobucket

4) paint!

Photobucket

i think my crest is rather nice! just a bit small... oh welll....

so here's the finished product with all my green/yellow splatters...

Photobucket

urgh she's really giving me lots of trouble. her artwork shows that the paint splatters / tatters are in green/yellow but in the game itself it's grey.logically i should have done grey, but wth! repair later...

got this wig for the character too.

and taobao has zentai skin suit too!

attached my battered red side and had a helluva fun cutting the edges. no need to seam! yay! iphone pictures are really poor quality...

so what i did for shio is i cut some random pattern, drape it over myself and cut randomnly to fit

Photobucket

for the sleeves it's quite straightforward, just 2 big flaps and sew it together with the main body. then the ragged cuts at the end for the shaggy look.

Photobucket

i then place some red cloth next to it and cut out the rough shape i need. the tearing would come later... probably after i sew it on. now i need this seaming glue... have no idea what the heck it's called, or i'm gonna get lots of unraveling of threads later.. ughh

Photobucket

and my last machine needle broke!!! my smart sis went to get those normal sewing needles for me. GOSHHH bish bish!!!!
so this is the other 14 year old girl i was talking about. shio from god eater. very weird costume. mop-like hair. challenging!
