richard tales of graces WIP

so after 5 years i decided to revisit this costume to repair/upgrade and get it ready for a photoshoot with denise. i found that my boots were missing though so i had to remake it. thankfully i was going for another shoot of denise and i received her unwanted costume to turn into my boots. haha!

i tore out all the grey laces and spammed gems wherever i could. it's actually not very obvious but i just hope the light will reflect off during photoshoot to make it bling.

added on the purple edged lace and alternate purple/red gems

more fanciful sword! just redid the gem, added on some gold layers cos they either fell off or got infected with the black color of the pvc i wrapped it with.. added a handle as well, don't know where the previous handle went... zzz.

lastly wig styling. all my blonde hair couldn't match and i had to use annie's wig....

stayed overnight at denise's place on sat (it was vday!) and helped her chiong some props too. unfortunately she wasn't in the right condition for the shoot the next day and i ended up doing solo..

i even ended up at the wrong place for shoot. TwT it was miserable. to the extent i didn't even take any selfies. bleahs. so shall just wait for pictures.

didn't get to upload many photos because it's always so troublesome to synch with my sis' pc and upload... bleahs. so here's all the wip updates...

oh i came back from cf and fixed my boots too. bleah. not very happy with this costume. sighs.

yes i only added a few more buckles...

i don't really like to do things so last minute, but since i was only 'confirmed' during eoy, i only had 1 week to brush up on my costume. not to mention i checked on videos and found that i had missing parts in the costume i absolutely had to repair...

worked on my scabbard on monday.. yeah i sort of captured these screenshots from youtube videos. lol. had to make out the details myself though since it's not really that clear, and i ended up confusing them with another sword he has. urghh.

went to buy aqua lining for my boots on tuesday as well as for the back of the cape. when i went shopping for the aqua lining... i was hesitant in just buying the lining and came across grey laces. so i thought... why not put those laces on my sleeves?? and i bought them =.= bleahs.

added the 'other side of the arrow' also, and i realised i need more buckles... eeee next time! maybe need to add 2 more...!?

Photobucket

wednesday i had lesson - when i came home it was so so late but i still had a bit of time to sew on lace for my collar tie.

Photobucket

thursday was more lace sewing after i got my bunch of laces... which i discovered that i actually had no need to, but because of my thirst for more patterns... i ended up putting them everywhere. kind of an overdosage if you ask me, but i had no time to take them off again. and of cos i had to pack too x_x i actually ran out of peach thread.. and ended up uhu gluing halfway lol.

Photobucket

actually i do not really like the grey laces. and i used the wrong set of stretchable laces and it seems to be curling. HORRIBLE. i'm regretting now. but what to do! it's too late!!! x_x

also polished up on the tip of my blade for tales. added that little golden tip, and managed to stuck all the patterns on with zera's wonderful double sided tape. hehe

here's a basic cape for richard

Photobucket

his tie around the neck

Photobucket

and the pants. err it should be more shapely, but i was lazy since it's gonna be tucked in anyway. and it's a bit small... damn.

Photobucket

attached the inner sleeves. now my jacket has lining (because it is required!)

Photobucket

and made the frills too

Photobucket

some more patterns for the rest of the jacket

Photobucket

and i modified this belt from an existing one i had. just cut the shape and attached a leftover leather i had to the bigger part, then blue lining.

Photobucket

the accessories are made outta foam and attached via the tack like clips i used for iljimae/ hotglue. easy.

Photobucket

here's the basic structure of the boots cover. haven't sewn it yet. wore the boots on me feet and stitched around it so it would fit nicer.. i hope

Photobucket

and lastly! pvc for the sword!

Photobucket

using my newly found material (car sticker) from korea, i lined the whole blade with the shiny thing

Photobucket

then pvc for the hilt patterns, which i used white acrylic on it first, then spray painted it cold and finally a coating spray.
hotglued them on, but doesn't seem strong enough. have advice from zerar that i should use super glue... oh by the way the whole pvc idea was zerar's - he seemed to have calculated some impossible physics for making a lightweight weapon outta this material. pure genius.

Photobucket

and i did all my stuff while watching kim soo ro and nappeun namja. yes, managed to finish kim soo ro... whooo!

in the early days of this week i worked on the crest for richard too.

cutting out the template for the flare using lining bases... i realised this part is actually not that necessary because i was gonna cut the same thing out of the blue piece as well =.=||| but i still stuck this thing on at the back just for the heck of it.

i put the jacket cut out underneath as a reference for the size.

Photobucket
after cutting the blue base, i cut the same thing for the peach lining, whilst cutting out all the middle parts.

Photobucket

i then paste this peach lining over the blue satin, which is overall pasted on the white base (not needed) so that they are fixed in place and easier to sew on later on. i used bondo glue! hell yeah!!

then after it's stuck on, just sew along while folding the outer parts in... tedious... and i ended up getting a bit the unbalanced crest, but oh well!!! don't think it's that visible once i have my collar scarf covering it... i hope...!!

managed to start on richard's inner top (since it's the easiest, and it was the only template i brought in). i made it collarless and sleeveless since there's no pictures of the standalone top i could find online, and the zip is only in the middle. leaves me room to breathe on top, and more cooling when it's sleeveless. hee hee.

Photobucket

oh it's black borders around the collar area since i was too lazy to cut off the black seams... so i sort of sewed all the way to the other side as well. wheeps.

and here's richard from tales of graces.

the only problem with him is i can't figure out if his coat is black, dark purple or dark brown... enlighten me please??? i might make it dark purple due to all the other colors he has on him (royalty colors...)
