post-surgery recovery

16 Jul

whilst the doctor called to let us know that she was on the lighter respirator again just before our visit, they acually moved her back to the heavier respirator because they said she seemed to have difficulty with the lighter one. so when we see her, she had 80% of her face covered again. this time, her pacifier was taped to her face so it wouldn't fall off. the respirator was stuck tightly as well. the nurses say that this was so the air wouldn't leak out. if the pacifier drops off, the air will also leak from the mouth. but they assured me that the tapes were meant for skin and wouldn't be painful when peeled off.

post-surgery, it seems that minzy's immunity went down and she developed infection again. they gave her antibody dosage but it doesn't seem like it would be as bad as previously. on the bright side, she was fasting for the surgery but as soon as she began eating again, she put on a little weight and she was now 1.02kg. she could also open her eyes but not for long.

oh.. i was a bit surprised when i saw that she had the diapers on her face. the nurses told me that it was made for her to hug, like a pillow. i guess this is the result of buying too many diapers that she wasn't able to wear. we bought several packs of diapers for babies under 1.8kg but due to the poop pouch, she wasn't able to wear it and urine kept leaking.

i've always thought that she couldn't sleep on her right side because of the poop pouch but today she was sleeping on her right. i could see the scar left behind from her heart surgery. it stretches from the armpit to her upper back. i did hear that the scar will grow in size as the baby grows. at least it doesn't look too obvious now... i'm not too concerned with scars since i kinda think of them as cool and ferocious, but everytime i see it on minzy it just reminds me what a big cut she went through considering her tiny body T_T

nampyeon took her little kicks and zoomed in on her eye.

nurse came in to make some adjustments to minzy's sleeping position and patted her. i'm full of envy. i think, i am always amazed at how minzy is always a little bigger than an adult's palm. she's just so small...

after that the nurse actually told me that i could touch minzy!! i had to wash my hands again and change to a new pair of gloves, and i couldn't touch my phone after that. it was the first time i was touching minzy and i was so, so happy. despite not being able to feel her skin to skin, i could still make out her soft little patches and i was surprised her fingers had such strength, and it was poky. her arms was growing a little chubbily (she was at 1.02kg) and it was nice to the touch. she would occasionally clutch my finger (or rather the glove area) when i place it in her palms, then spread out her hands again. i was able to pat her legs and body as i soothe her. also, i heard her let out a very very tiny cry twice that lasted for just 2secs. it was so so cute i wished that i had it recorded...

i spent almost an hour in there until the nurse had to chase me out because it was almost 3 and nampyeon hadn't gone it. when he did, he could only have 10mins with her since there was some meeting the nurses had to attend. still, nampyeon got to see minzy opening her eyes and flailing her arms and legs in that short span and he was satisfied.

we had tendon in the area after the visit... good lunch!

161210-11 Pangyo Myeongdong

the next 2 days was basically a full day of shopping for my winter coat, since mine is just too thin to withstand the crazy cold.

we had lunch with JH at giheung, at a random kimchi stew shop as we were drawn in by the smell. it turned out to be pretty awesome, and we were so full after just the small pot! the omelette is nice, but 6k is not that worth it. it's half in ketchup cos mr kong doesn't like ketchup. lol.

after that, JH sent us to pangyo, and we started our shopping at the outlets. i think i tried on more than 20 jackets lol and eventually narrowed down to the one from beanpole, its competitor and NBA.

at shinsegae, we took a short dinner break as we were still full, but tired from all the walking.

saw a funny shop called beli sian. hahah. like my mood sio.

the next day we also managed to head to myeongdong and shop at the lotte outlet to compare the prices.

we ate at the basement level of the dept store, and randomly chose a salmon chirashi, which turned out to be MUCH BETTER than expected. i say this, cos i tend to think restaurants at dept store are expensive and give little, but this one - the salmon chunks were huge and made up for like 70% of the bowl, and i've never seen so little rice. it was heavenly!!! and the roe topping! i didn't even mind the beansprouts!

or maybe cos it was near closing time (9-10pm), which was why the ajummas gave us a lot?

anyway i saw another fila down that i quite like which actually makes me look slim and has magnet catches, but didn't get it cos it was a little too thin. in the end, we checked all the prices online and bought them from Naver shopping, cos they are more than 50bucks cheaper.... hahah.

and it was sent to me 2 days later.. whee~! here's my nba jacket!

wore this out to dinner with mr kong's childhood gathering, and we had wagyu buffet (litterally just wagyu being served).

didn't think the pink fur would look so pretty, and the jacket is actually pretty light and warm, despite the many pockets and zippers. aside from the fact that it gets dirty easily and attracts dust, it really is an awesome piece.

161206 Juno Ilsan

so i went to the academy twice, first for a hair dye session to cover the growing roots, done by an american lecturer, and the second to get my hair cut by all the training students.

in fact, some of the students are actually salon owners themselves, so i'm not really sure what they are doing here. haha. here's my hair before i get them all cut up...! my hair!!!

and while the dye is in the works...

and my new hair cut after sitting at the salon for like 5hours since 10am, to 3pm, with the training director.

not too sure about my new cut, i think i look weird. hahaha. maybe because of the curls at the end.

rushed off to meet eki at her cafe with mr kong and we had sushi buffet at a nearby restaurant. or not that near, our taxi took like 20mins. woah. the place is almost the same as the one i went to previously at yongin, but the sushi is all on a conveyor belt.

we then headed back to her cafe with hyun bin and chatted till super late, and mr gold had to come pick us up XD

161120 Shio Jap

on our daily walks around yongin, we discovered a new jap restaurant that sells homely food. it has menus with drawings instead of pictures, and only sells 3 main sets of food. it was recommended by JH also, so we decided to try it out - Shio~

some kind of green bean paste was given as a starter. pretty nice.

we ordered the sashimi cold served

and the curry hamburg

all of them comes with the salad and crab soup. and every single side dish is so yummy!!! there's a slight discount for lunch, so we would probably come back again to try out that 3rd set~!!

each set is around 11-14k, a little pricey but still worth it.

161022 Teppei Omakase

bro booked teppei in advance, way before i left for korea to celebrate all our birthdays at once.

it's a cozy japanese bar top where you leave your food to the chef's imagination. can't remember how many dishes it was in total, probably 18 or so for like 80-90+ per person. and our rich brother is the payer today! enjoy the eye fest for the foooood

this maki roll is this size for the ladies and...

this for the men! lol.

got to have 2x oysters cos mom couldn't take raw..

and sometimes we get fed...

but sometimes we don't know what it is we're getting fed.. lol as long as it tastes nice!?

a glob of uh... lol.

and sometimes the waiter just doesn't want me to have a good steady picture!

group photo in between!

and a confession by our waiter..

which is soon cooked to delicious beef......mmmm

this tasted like popcorn. i've never seen such flower!

and now for our mains! you can pick like 1 main from the 4-5 choices they give.

but they put on something special for the people in their birthday month!

here's the main japanese chef looking all cool~~ so cute!

and our 'cake' is here! yum yum uni rice~

we got 6 ice creams as they gave one calpis wrongly. love the salted caramel (most bottom).

and that concludes our meal!
