super fast update on the dinner over the weekends, and thanks to denise for the invite!!! <3

am majorly impressed with DWG organisation, the dinner was everything that I had not expected, starting with the theme they had set (hence the reason why we were there). i bet my boss will clamour me to organise one if he knew such a big organisation already had a headstart. He has been bugging me for a Christmas Cosplay event since a year a go =.= shhhhhh!!

So here's our lovely hotel, at Swissotel. It was pouring when i reached. goshhh. thank goodness we were indoor...!





we self-shot a lot so i doubt i'll post all of them here =.= and besides, my lousy iphone took pixelated pictures of everyone so i have to kope from jes/denise and the photogs who were all there

the queen sat behind us. i am quite sure we have a group photo with her taken by the lightning trigger uncle photog. wonder how we can get those photos...



the black swan you see also won the best dressed. her make up was just awesome!!

and on to dinner -

but before that... the dance first! the quirky emcee decided to flip the event.



and also invited all the core members of DWG on stage to start the ball rolling



champagne popping, dance and then on to dinner!



this is the only picture i have, sadly. because we left after the second dish for a short photoshoot, and we only came back for 1 more dish+dessert TwT i want to eat more!!!

and then it was another short photoshoot after with shek, and we went off to eat supper till 3am. PHWAAAAAAAAR....

HK Day 1

We took Jetstar for the trip and I barely made it! here's us waiting at the airport and spamming iphone functions.



Touched down around 8 and reached our hostel at 9 via the local MTR.



We were gonna live in a hostel in Mong Kok for the next few days. I remember when I first reached the place - it was pretty spectacular! Really felt like I was in Hong Kong. I live that the streets were bustling and colorfully lighted up, and the shops opened past 11!



Our first meal was at 银龙茶餐厅, a random cafe near our hostel as we were all so hungry. The food was only so-so, I was just amazed at the amount of milk in their tea... The milk to tea ratio is probably 7:1 -.-

Then we went shopping around 女人街 and I actually managed to buy a top, leggings and some accessories. We went back to the hostel around 12+ and had a bit of an adventure with our room. My sister stuck the Wong key in and broke the key so the teeth part was left in the door knob and we couldn't open the door! Dad tried to break the knob but in the end had to wait for some help to come and replace the knob. Probably only managed to finish and slept around 2-3+ zZzzzz

i actually started liking this song because of maria aragon. love her guy version!!!



but nobody recorded hers so there's only bruno's version... here it is! (must-have on wedding song list... lol)

その事件関係の人も全部消すためにそんなの事もわざわざやるまで、本当に笑わせました。最初はびっくりしましたけど今なら無茶にしては問題ないです。：D　もっと注意する事があんだ。

i worked a bit on mellow's skirt over the weekends also because it's quite easy to do so. i think i'm using all the same methods for her sleeves, skirt etc. everything on her is so 'flowy', the harder part is finding the materials to match and getting the 'fishy' feel.

i got some refractive surface cloth for the base



and some sequinned overlay



when it's combined it sort of case a barely visible sparkle underneath (that i'm gonna lie to myself by saying it looks like scales)

also added a shiny chiffon over the sleeves. the base pattern is so not visible now, so i guess i sort of used the wrong base - could have used a normal looking satin instead of my watery pattern one... bwahhhh...

i'm finally updating! and i'm updating with a full set! ahhaah because i completed my costume (",) for this sat's D&D

so here's the darling in question



i first started with the crown with a oam base and wrapped with satin, decorated with diamante and laces



then i created a satin belt like thingy, wrapped with lace and inserted metal wiring. placed gold ribbons on it as patterns, then stuck it with uhu to the crown



the 'floating belt is actually made in the same way



next i worked on the cloak. pretty simple!



with lining inside



and with feathers stuck to it!



next is the gloves. i spent a lot of time on this because i actually cut out a much smaller size and had to sew extra cloth to it so that it is more wearable. it's actually still pretty tight, and the finishing really sucks because it's full of holes and loose threads but i am really too lazy to finish it nicely... it took a much longer time than if i were to make a new one from scratch actually. but guess i was just too stubborn to start anew T___T



finished it off with little diamante decors



last is the gown. i first made a base



then lined the bustline with gold bias tape



i put in inner lining too! it wasn't that hard actually. and it made the dress less transparent and much more comfortable to wear. i wonder why this duchess satin is so translucent though. grrrr.



added a chiffon edge with applique lace on top to cover the ugly sewing marks...



then i worked on the metal-looking plates - done by sticking PVC on foam and spraying over. may not be a good method because clothes tend to be creased easily when wearing and it will cause a permanent visible bend in the plates...



didn't take a picture of the rest of the plates but they are made in the same way anyway. so here's the finished up bustier area with the plates stuck on:


i was trying to figure out a way to stick the plates on without gluing it to the dress permanently, but i failed. it will just cause too many ugly marks (velcro, buttons etc) so now it's permanently glued and i won't be able to reuse the base. gawwwww.... T___T

hoo hooo i am working on something normal for once!!!

saw this really nice bat-like coat that mary had on in mary stayed out all night, and thought i should also make one for myself...!!
so i dug out the cloth that could fit and started working on it.

here's the basic shape:


then i added some chiffon edges. blue goes pretty well with black chiffon.



i love my chinese collars! also added some buttons that were 'hidable' underneath the chiffon, and put on epaulettes. i love epaulettes.



with the brooch i bought from korea to create a bit more sparkle, we're now good to go!

i didn't do any updates for jun and i'm already done with the shoot! hohohohoh

wanted to do a zone-00 character that's not so revealing but can fit in with our hotel theme and byakko's just not suitable... so here goes! and jun is too sexalicious in her normal leather wear T__T

well anyway this is the only thing i made for the character...



styled the wig too, but that's about it. and we're good to go!

had a bit of time on the last day of CNY holidays (sunday) to do up the sleeves for mellow using one of the fabric my mom bought. lol. it's full of watery like patterns, thought it might suit the character. have to wait for the other fabric to arrive from tb before i continue...

basically it's a great big circle, like how you do all other flare skirts....



and when you loop in it becomes a flare sleeve!



i know, this is sooooo exciting. bish.

Mellow Petshop of Horrors

i was so addicted to petshop of horrors, i downloaded this manga online app so i can read it on the go. thank goodness they have the manga inside!!! if you're interested you can read them here

i love the local team who did petshop of horrors and i'm so glad and honored i'm joining them!!! i remember when i saw wsakura at afa/soy in her phoenix costume and i was like 'what series is that!!!!' i love all ancient looking costumes and hers was a mixture of traditional chinese and jap. then i saw the rest of the team during soy (roy's singing bird... thai chicken omg)... and on DA and it was just wwwwwwwwwhoooa. check out their DA, just search for petshop of horrors and you can be sure to find their awesome pictures.

i like their blinging principle and 'build on your creativity if you don't see it in the manga!' because manga comes in b&w, it is difficult to get the correct colors and all the pictures from all angles, so you really have to expand them on your own. wheee
hopefully i can do a blinging good job too and not disappoint hime~!!

and then there was the hysterical お母さん joke that maria, jackie, data and me were going bonkers over while waiting for the taxi to take us home. (never wait for a taxi there, it doesn't seem to come =.=) 世上只有妈妈好, dumplings and whatnots. i have been educated much 8D

it's a half day today (30mins more to go before i knock off) before i go home and start to prepare to go malaysia. it's gonna be another loooooong boring visit with the same old questions... but let's just get it over and done with soon eh? x_x
